Thank you for joining me here for this quiet little conversation, taking a moment to be with these thoughts, words and images.

I've been playing mind games on myself recently and today I decided to opt out when I noticed the effects were bleeding in to other parts of my life. The consumer society messaging of "more" "new" and always outdoing whatever the last thing was has been making me afraid to write...what if it's not beautiful enough, what if it's not meaningful enough, what if what if what if...

What if it's enough to show up with clear intention on what we want to create, and a commitment to bring our authentic voice and our focused energy. Maybe whatever each of us is creating doesn't always have to be bigger better more fantabulous than ever (i thought fantabulous was a made up word but it's actually in the dictionary). 

In the meantime, while I'm working on the finishing steps on the juxtapositions pieces, i want to share with you this special piece called 'sacred light'. This painting was inspired by totems at abandoned Indigenous village sites up and down the west coast of Canada. Even as the elements of sun, salt, and wind take their toll on these majestic works, their mystical and sacred energy lives on

In the image below 'sacred light' hangs with 'storm lashing' - I love the way the dark and the light balance each other in this installation.

And as always, I want to express my gratitude to be living and working on the ancestral & unceded territories of the hən̓̓qəmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples.I honour the incredible depths of grace, courage and perseverance of Indigenous Peoples, and look to them as an example as they find their voices amidst the noise and obfuscation of colonization.
