Welcome again to quiet little conversations...making a space for peace, grace and serenity with words, thoughts and images.

I'm really glad you're here taking a few moments of peace, grace and serenity with words, thoughts and images.

I want to express my gratitude to be living and working on the ancestral & unceded territories of the hən̓̓qəmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples.I honour the incredible depths of grace, courage and perseverance of Indigenous Peoples, especially during these challenging times as more and more truth comes to light in relation to residential schools in Canada.

this morning i was out walking just as the night was turning to day and the gentlest whisps of wind touched my skin

the light and the air reminders of the summer i deckhanded for my father as he followed his salmon fishing dream in his west coast troller pulling on smelly slightly damp layers stumbling out of the warm wheelhouse the sky on the edge of twilight the rear deck where the fishing gear lay ready starting the hydraulic pulley system clipping the gear to the line as it dropped down down feeling very agitated at not starting my day or any day that summer with a shower and food feeling the indescribable beauty and immensity of the sky as it lightened into the day the sometimes gentle swells of the sea these incredibly powerful forces of sea sky wind sometimes caressing us gently sometimes tossing us like a piece of driftwood on giant waves

are there memories in your life awakened by a certain quality of light, a temperature, the way the breeze traverses your skin? i love how we can be brought back to those places and times by these gentle hints from the elements of nature

until next time,

Mardell
